🏒 The 10-Foot Difference

Why Going a Little Further Can Take You a Lot Farther

At Pro Performance Hockey, we run a drill called goal line to blue line sprints.

Simple, right?

But we’re not actually measuring speed.

We’re looking for character.

Some players slow down early.

Some stop right where we said.

But every once in a while, there’s a player who goes 10 feet past the line.

That small extra effort tells us everything.

It shows in everything you do:

Passing
Skating
Stickhandling

Will you go the extra mile to become elite?

Let’s break it down.

If you stop short:

It might signal laziness, or at best, average.

Stopping at the line:

Fine, you did what was asked.

But the ones who go beyond?

That’s where elite starts to show.

The guys who play college hockey.
The few who make it to the NHL.

They’re the ones who consistently go further on drills, in the gym, in life.

Every time you step on the ice, take a test, or face a challenge, you have a decision to make.

Are you doing what’s required?

Or are you doing more?

Remember what Coach Scott Rutherford always says:

Do the common thing uncommonly well.

When you’re ready to elevate your game, here’s how I can help you:

  1. Elite private training to provide the 1 on 1 attention you deserve.

  2. Spring 2025 clinics for offseason skill development.

  3. Summer Camp 2025 to prepare for the upcoming season.

See you on the ice,

Coach Scott Rutherford
